More from our shoot with these 4 fun ladies out in St. Charles on Friday!

I’ve read many a photo blog where photographers talk about stopping on the side of the road with clients because the lighting is “just right.” It’s true… there’s no imitating the perfect natural light. We’ve experienced multiple sessions where we haven’t had the right light… but last Friday we finally had the chance to experience that special light that we’ve read so much about. AMAZING! We met the Davis grandchildren at our favorite secret place (it’s not really a secret… just hidden) in Forest Park. It could not have been more perfect. We had a little less than an hour before the sun went down… which is really the perfect amount of time when you have 4 kids ages 3 and under. We had a blast with these kiddos! And I was so excited that we found some flowers!!

On Wednesday I met the Phillips boys at the Visitor Center in Forest Park. It was beautiful outside. We originally thought we were going to be dealing with rain… but thankfully the extended forecast was wrong. That’s one thing Dan and I have really been learning as we book more shoots… lighting is everything! Especially since we prefer to use natural light. These were supposed to be Caleb’s 3 month pictures… but due to some scheduling conflicts… he is already 4 months old!!! Amazing how time flies. Big brother, Bryce just recently turned 2… so we had to get some fun ones of him as well! :)

It’s hard to believe that this time last year the thought of starting a photography business had not even entered our minds. This new part of our lives has been amazing! There’s just nothing like being able to work creatively on something with your spouse. It has strengthened our marriage in a new and really fun way. It was so nice to have something to take our minds off the other intense parts of this last year… a little break of sorts. We’re really looking forward to seeing how we are able to develop even more of our skills in 2010. Thanks to all of our friends and family for helping us get started!! Here’s our top 19 of 20 (1 more coming soon) starting with our most recent shoots and working back (December 2009-May 2009)…

I met JennyLark at a park here in Maplewood this morning for her 3rd trimester maternity shoot. She’s 39 1/2 weeks pregnant… and looks amazing. She was brave enough to meet me outside in 18° weather so I could get some shots of her in the snow. JennyLark has some great pictures from her wedding that were taken in the snow… so I thought it would be neat for her to have a maternity session in the snow as well. I loved so many of the shots that I’ve had a hard time narrowing it down. Here are three of my favorites…

After we finished up outside we headed back to her house for some shots with her girls. I had a hard time choosing from these as well. I couldn’t help laughing as I was editing today!

One of the highlights of staying in St. Louis for the holidays this year was getting the chance to schedule a few portrait sessions. One of those sessions was the (very chilly!) day after Christmas with the Goodman family. The Goodman’s have 3 sons who all live out of state with their families. They were all in town for a few overlapping days and wanted to schedule a portrait session. It was really fun to photograph them at the home the boys spent a lot of time growing up in. Here are our favorites…

Here is more of the Phillips Family, all part of their commission for us to capture Caleb entering this world. First of all it turned out to be a 70° day in St. Louis in November and we were able to enjoy some shooting outside with Caleb, who at 6 days handled everything like a champ! Second of all, we all had a blast. Here are my top 3:
